Established as Agrément Board by the UK Government

1967

Agrement Board certifies 3 construction products as ‘satifactory for purpose’.

By 1977

Agrément Board certifies 150 construction products

1970s

Obtained the first relaxation by the Building Regulation Division of the DoE for cavity wall insulation systems and began awarding Agrément Board certificates

1983

Becomes British Board of Agrément (BBA) a not-for-profit-organisation

1986

BBA certicates enhanced under new building regulations

1980s

Introduction of the Audit & Inspection service to the certification process

1994

BBA expands into new product areas like polypropylene fibres for concrete, insulating permanent formwork and drainage, having issued over 3,000 certificates in total.

1995

BBA introduces The Highways Authorities Product Approval Scheme (HAPAS)

1998

BBA HAPAS Agrément Certificate issued

2001

UK Government nominates the BBA to issue ETAs and represent the UK in the European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA). UK’s first European Technical Assessment

2002

Launch Management System Assessment Services and win first FENSA inspection contract.

2010

Issued first Microgeneration Certificate Scheme certificate.

2011

BBA and Robust Details Limited joined forces to develop a scheme to deal with the effects of linear thermal bridging in new buildings.

2013

Over 5,500 certificates issued

2018

BBA expands services across Europe by opening BBA Europe office in Dublin

2020

Over 6,000 certificates issued.

2020

The BBA opens Liverpool office
