BBA LAUNCH CONVENIENT ON-DEMAND VERSION OF RIBA APPROVED CPD FOR SPECIFIERS

The British Board of Agrément (BBA) is launching a new, on-demand version of its RIBA approved CPD, ‘Navigating 3rd Party Certification: Using BBA Agrément to build with confidence’. This essential CPD is designed to help specifiers interpret the information within a BBA Agrément Certificate and have confidence in a product’s suitability for a particular project. Following the success of the monthly webinar version of the CPD, this informative content is now available for specifiers to access in several convenient options including:

  • NEW on-demand version – available via NBS Source and the RIBACPD website
  • Monthly webinar via GoToWebinar
  • Webinar direct to practice
  • Face to face at practice or an event

Katy Roberts, BBA’s Sales & Marketing Director explains, “We understand the need to access critical information that enables architects and specifiers to specify with confidence, and part of that is helping them to develop an even deeper understanding of the Agrément certificate, and access CPD content at a place and time that’s convenient for them. To ensure this vital content is easily accessible, we have developed a new on-demand version so that the CPD is available at any time.

The RIBA approved CPD covers how to use an Agrément certificate correctly, provides greater clarity on often misunderstood differences between product conformity and certification, and covers the following components:

  • What is the BBA and what does it do?
  • What is third party certification and why is it important?
  • How do the UK Building Regulations relate to construction products?
  • What is the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and CE/ UKCA Marking?
  • What is the difference between CE/UKCA Marking and voluntary third-party certification?
  • What is involved for a manufacturer to achieve and maintain Agrément certification for their product?
  • How do I use an Agrément Certificate?
  • What other types of third-party certification are there?

Katy Roberts continues: “Agrément Certificates are complex documents, so this essential CPD for specifiers has been designed to help signpost the key factors included, and is now available in a convenient and accessible way. Thanks to today’s hybrid technology, CPD learning can take place in the office, at home, on-site or on the move. As part of our mission to help improve safety and quality, we want to ensure that we’re supporting those working in the construction sector to enhance their knowledge on how to use a BBA Agrément Certificate to make the right choice for their project.

This new BBA CPD module is part of the RIBA core curriculum from which architects must do 20 CPD hours per year. All RIBA Chartered Members are required to undertake and record CPD each year as evidence that they are taking organised steps to maintain their competence through continuous learning.
