With the extension of the transition period, UKCA Marking for products covered by a Designated Standard is mandatory in Great Britain from 1st January 2023 and this is unaffected by the presence or otherwise of a BBA Certificate. Work carried out to produce a BBA Certificate may well be used towards UKCA Marking, but this will depend on the individual Standard. UKCA Marking via the voluntary route is, of course, optional.
Building Regulations and guidance have been amended across the UK several times during 2022, mainly covering fire safety, energy economy and ventilation.
BBA Certificates are to be updated to allow for these new requirements, but users should be aware that this will take some time and that, in the meantime, the Regulations quoted and the associated comments may not be valid. This does not affect the performance characteristics quoted in Certificates and potential users should ensure that these parameters enable a product to satisfy the requirements of the current Regulations.
