Construction Skills Crisis – Past, Present and Future

Duration:
Approx. 30 mins

Presenters:
Andrew Crudgington – Construction Industry Technical Author
Mark Harrison – Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Transformation @ CIOB

Skills Crisis Large

Discussion around the industry’s ‘Skills Shortage’ is anything but new, and certainly not something unique to the Construction space. In a 2021 article by the CITB*, it was estimated that our industry will need over 215,000 new workers by 2025 to meet demand. And where the industry is crying out for new tradespeople and suppliers of critical materials, the so-called skills crisis extends even further as the industry continues to gear up towards new technology adoption and the skill required to implement a digital way of working.

But where do we start? How do we tackle a problem without understanding the true extent of repercussions across the entire marketplace?

In this webinar, we explore the real meaning behind the skills gap, the fundamentals that are driving change and what we can do to enable and equip our landscape to gear up for new opportunities.
