Is IWI an opportunity ripe for exploitation?
Dr Kerry J Mashford OBE CEng FIMechE FICE FIET FRSA, Chief Executive, National Energy Foundation. Research suggests that seven million homes in the UK could benefit from internal wall insulation as well as large proportions of our public and commercial building stock. Against that background Kerry Mashford explores the underdeveloped opportunities for internal wall insulation in the UK. She considers the characteristics of operating in this sub-sector and what potential there is for reshaping supply, increasing demand and maximising improvement in energy performance.

Looking ahead at Government policy on fuel poverty and home energy efficiency
Richard Mellish, Deputy Director for Home and Local Energy, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy will reflect on the Government’s manifesto commitment on fuel poverty, the recent publication of the Clean Growth Strategy and what might be expected from future iterations of the Energy Company Obligation.

Minimum Ventilation Requirements
BEAMA is the trade association which represents companies involved in the provision of ventilation. BEAMA will explain the minimum requirements and options for ventilation to enable insulation installers to comply with the ventilation standards contained within PAS2030.

General Data Protection Regulations
In May 2018 the GDPR will replace the current Data Protection Act. The regulations will be significantly more onerous than the current DPA and NIA members that utilise Energy Company funding are expected to be required to evidence compliance with the new regulations in contracts. In addition, if companies are unable to prove compliance with GDPR at all stages in the supply chain (with jobs / installs in particular), this could be translated as a breach of contract with them and without a robust audit trail of compliance, companies will struggle to win contracts in the future.
