The BBA Celebrates its membership of the Green Roof Organisation UK
Green roofs offer alternative solutions to urban challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, rainwater attenuation and the need for more green spaces. There is a wide variety of different types of green roofs available. As well as their aesthetic and practical uses, they can also create habitats for plants and animals or even play and leisure spaces, where these have been lost through development. Over recent years, green roofs have become an integral component in sustainable urban development.
The Role of the Green Roof Organisation UK (GRO)
The Green Roof Organisation UK is a non-profit, industry-led body that works to advance the development and installation of green roofs across the UK. Through its publication The GRO Green Roof Code — Green Roof Code of Best Practice for the UK it is focused on ensuring that green roofs are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest standards.
The BBA is delighted to be an associate member of the GRO. Though its Agrément Certificate programme, the BBA assesses products which are used in Green Roof systems to ensure they are fit-fit-for-purpose for the projects they are specified for. For example, a relevant Certificate might contain reference to a product’s resistance to root penetration and also how the system meets appropriate National Building Regulations.
Our rigorous certification processes ensure that green roofing systems perform as promised, providing peace of mind to clients, specifiers, installers and building users.
