The Building Safety Act has been created to provide residents and homeowners with more rights, powers and protection; making homes safer across the country.
In the wake of the Hackitt review, and receiving Royal Assent in April 2022, the construction industry is set to witness the biggest change within building safety in over 40 years, impacting most, if not all players, within the construction supply chain. This overhaul of building and safety regulations will now require players across the construction supply chain to demonstrate safety at 3 critical construction gateways:
- Design/planning;
- Construction; and
- Occupation.
Through close monitoring by the newly established regulators, the industry is set to adapt and learn new, safer ways of doing business.
But what does that mean for the players involved within the construction space?
In this webinar, we explored The Building Safety Act as well as the impact of the standards and guidance on the wider supply chain, and how it aims to manage building safety risks.
Our panellists also reviewed & discussed highlights from the inaugural Building Safety Regulator Conference which took place earlier in March.
Topics covered in the discussion:
- Understanding the Building Safety Act: Who does this apply to, and what does it cover
- Understanding the applications of the Act across the entire supply chain, from designers through to manufacturers and builders
- Understanding the Golden Thread and the implications this holds on the supply chain
- Accountability: Changes proposed by the Act to address accountability and ownership
- Behavioural and cultural changes expected by the implementation of the Building Safety Act
- Translating the key findings from the Building Safety Regulator Conference
Our biggest thanks to panellists Jon Vanstone & Richard Waterhouse for sharing their insight with us.
